EDUCATION

 

Education is a conscious and deliberate effort to create an atmosphere of learning and the learning process so that learners are actively developing the potential for him to have the spiritual strength of religious, self-control, personality, intelligence, noble character, and the skills needed themselves and society.

Philosophy of education

 

Education usually begins when a baby is born and lasts a lifetime. Education could have started before the baby is born as is done bymany people by playing music and reading to babies in the womb in the hope he can teach their babies before birth.

For some, the experience of daily life more meaningful than formal education. Such as Mark Twain said, "I never let school interfere withmy education."

Family members have a profound teaching role, often more profound than they realize, even though teaching family members runningunofficially.

 Educational functionAccording to Horton and Hunt , educational institutions relating to real functions ( manifest ) the following :

Preparing community members to make a living .

Develop individual talents for the sake of personal satisfaction and for the benefit of society .

Preserving culture .

Instill the skills necessary for participation in a democracy .

Another function of the institution is as follows .

    Reducing parental control . Through education , school parents delegate duties and responsibilities in educating children to school .

    Provide a means for insubordination . Schools have the potential to instill the value of dissent in society . This is reflected by the difference in views between the school and the community about things , such as sex education and open attitude .

    Maintain the social class system . School education is expected to disseminate to their students to accept differences in prestige , privilege , and status in society . Schools are also expected to channel mobility of students to a higher social status or at least not according to the status of their parents .

    Prolong adolescence . School education can also slow down a person's adult life because students are still economically dependent on their parents .According to David Popenoe , there are four kinds of educational function which is as follows :

Transmission ( removal ) of culture

Choose and teach social role .

Ensure social integration .

School teaches personality style .
